Tamang Heritage Trail & Langtang Valley Trek – 17 Days
One of the closest trekking destinations from Kathmandu lies an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and cultural riches of Langtang offers an unfolding life and unique experience. Previously a restricted area near the Tibetan border, the unexplored regions of the Langtang National Park have recently been developed into the Tamang Heritage Trail. The Langtang Valley was designated the first national park of Nepal in 1971. “Tamang Heritage Trail” is the recently opened trekking route in Langtang region. This trail was developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (RPAP) under United Nations Development Project (UNDP) with the aim of sustainable development through rural tourism. Now this trek has become third most popular trekking trail in Nepal. The cultural and traditions of these people are similar to the Tibetan across the border. It offers a glance of the typical life style and culture of mountain people called Tamang. The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages (Goljung, Gatlang, Nagthal, Briddim) where life, culture, and crafts have remained unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. Warm traditional welcome hosted by the locals, their elaborate consumes, rich architecture of their mountain houses and the ancient monasteries and places of prayer add color to the experience of this heritage trekking. In addition to cultural experience, this trekking also offers stunning mountain views of Langtang and wilderness walking experience through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain and rhododendrons forests. Hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani will also be an unforgettable experience of this trekking
